When I needed team insights, I had to click on the Week Total metrics, which then opened the Reports. Instead of exporting my time entries here, I was prompted to <strong>create<\/strong> <strong>invoices<\/strong> <strong>from<\/strong> <strong>Reports<\/strong>. I was puzzled, wondering what the Invoices section was for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the bright side, <strong>Toggl<\/strong> <strong>Track<\/strong> <strong>integrates<\/strong> <strong>with<\/strong> <strong>QuickBooks<\/strong>. Sadly, after generating my first invoice, I realized you can\u2019t reopen it for an overview or further editing. Another thumbs down for flexibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To my dismay (and that of many accountants), Toggl Track <strong>doesn\u2019t<\/strong> <strong>create<\/strong> <strong>expenses<\/strong>. You can only link receipts to time entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Toggl Track\u2019s Profitability report shows a neat overview of total tracked time, billable hours, and billable amounts. However, I was bummed to learn it <strong>doesn\u2019t<\/strong> <strong>separate invoiced<\/strong> <strong>and<\/strong> <strong>uninvoiced<\/strong> <strong>time<\/strong>. Paymo tracks time, creates task lists, and issues simple invoices \u2014 but be prepared for big price gaps between paid plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"how-does-paymo-work\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does Paymo work?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paymo\u2019s timer, located in the bottom left corner, allows you to track time by project and task. It\u2019s pretty handy, but you <strong>can\u2019t<\/strong> <strong>cancel<\/strong> <strong>the<\/strong> <strong>timer<\/strong> once you\u2019ve started it, which irked me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video aligncenter\"><video height=\"690\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 800 \/ 690;\" width=\"800\" autoplay loop muted src=\"https:\/\/clockify.me\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Timer-in-Paymo.mp4\" playsinline><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Timer in Paymo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I found the Recent Tasks button neat, as it lets you continue the timer on recent tasks. I\u2019m sure that professional service teams with ongoing projects would use it a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paymo offers customizable time entries and displays them in a color-coded, calendar-like timesheet. In the Timesheets section, you can <strong>bulk-create<\/strong> <strong>entries<\/strong> <strong>for<\/strong> <strong>different<\/strong> <strong>projects<\/strong> <strong>and<\/strong> <strong>tasks<\/strong> for the whole week. Note that <strong>checking<\/strong> <strong>a<\/strong> <strong>task<\/strong> <strong>off<\/strong> <strong>removes<\/strong> <strong>it<\/strong> <strong>from<\/strong> <strong>the<\/strong> <strong>task<\/strong> <strong>list<\/strong>. But that doesn\u2019t affect your task-related entries \u2014 I panicked and double-checked. If you\u2019re a system admin with repetitive work, you\u2019ll have to recreate your tasks each day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I also noticed that Paymo only creates client-bound projects. That\u2019s bad news for tracking internal operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The app offers <strong>straightforward<\/strong> <strong>yet<\/strong> <strong>limited<\/strong> <strong>billing<\/strong> <strong>options<\/strong>. Sorting individual tasks and their billable hours was great, but I wish I could hide certain fields like pay rates. With Paymo\u2019s multiple invoice statuses (draft, void, paid, and sent), I could track invoices from creation to payment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I generated custom reports with time entries and their billable details with <strong>versatile<\/strong> <strong>yet<\/strong> <strong>slightly<\/strong> <strong>tucked<\/strong>&#8211;<strong>away<\/strong> <strong>filters<\/strong>. I was also able to view any overtime hours marked in time entry notes. It helps freelancers and contractors generate formal invoices, track time, and accept payments at a handsome price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"how-does-invoicely-work\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does Invoicely work?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Setup requires your full address, which feels a bit invasive. The interface is simple, which makes it easy to master the app. I only wish Invoicely had more color and feature depth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Time<\/strong> <strong>and<\/strong> <strong>expenses<\/strong> <strong>are tracked<\/strong> <strong>in<\/strong> <strong>the<\/strong> <strong>same<\/strong> <strong>place<\/strong>, the Track section. I would have preferred separate sections to keep things organized. Time entries are tracked by task, not project. As a workaround, I used description fields to add project names and tags to give details like overtime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video aligncenter\"><video height=\"1280\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 720 \/ 1280;\" width=\"720\" autoplay loop muted src=\"https:\/\/clockify.me\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Manual-time-entry-in-Invoicely.mp4\" playsinline><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Manual time entry in Invoicely<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While tracking time, I discovered that Invoicely prompts you to enter a <strong>random<\/strong> <strong>rate<\/strong> <strong>for<\/strong> <strong>every<\/strong> <strong>time<\/strong> <strong>entry<\/strong>. You can\u2019t predefine user or task rates beforehand and then assign them \u2014 missed opportunity for automation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Invoicely, the only way to create a non-billable entry is to add a rate at $0. The app also <strong>only<\/strong> <strong>logs<\/strong> <strong>duration<\/strong> for each entry. Without start and end times, I had no exact insights into my team\u2019s work hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Timer option pops up once you manually log time. I liked that it runs uninterrupted while I switch tabs. That way, an IT company can tax specific invoice items, like supplying hardware. Its robust design and AI-focused advancements make Scoro a great fit for IT companies and tech-fluent teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"how-does-scoro-work\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does Scoro work?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scoro relies on <strong>AI-powered<\/strong> <strong>setup<\/strong>. Instead of filling in a form, I had to chat with AI for about 5 minutes. Later on, I filled out field-heavy windows to create clients and projects. With so many hidden options, mastering Scoro wasted a lot of my time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scoro offers 3 types of projects: One-off (time-bound), Retainer (ongoing), and Internal (non-billable and non-client-facing). I used the one-off type for short-term projects and the retainer one for long-term projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Adding<\/strong> <strong>projects<\/strong> <strong>and<\/strong> <strong>tasks<\/strong> <strong>is<\/strong> <strong>pretty<\/strong> <strong>simple<\/strong> if you ignore the cluttered layout. IT companies would surely leverage Scoro\u2019s abundant options, like adding phases and task bundles. I like it as a shortcut to accessing specific tasks, but I wouldn\u2019t call it a time tracker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can <strong>start<\/strong> <strong>the<\/strong> <strong>timer<\/strong> <strong>on<\/strong> <strong>a<\/strong> <strong>task<\/strong> <strong>or<\/strong> <strong>add<\/strong> <strong>duration<\/strong> <strong>to<\/strong> <strong>it<\/strong> in the Projects or Tasks section. Unfortunately, this feature is designed for events like meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Invoicing tracked time is a bit tricky. Once inside the Projects section, open the Time tab, select time entries, and then click Create invoice. Unfortunately, Scoro only imports the total billable hours and amounts into the invoice \u2014 you\u2019ll need to fill in the rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I enjoyed Scoro\u2019s <strong>reporting<\/strong> <strong>flexibility<\/strong>. The Detailed report shows a color-coded graph and a table overview of your billable time info. Besides tracking projects and tasks, the app also uses job types to classify roles or skillsets. Personally, I didn\u2019t find this feature helpful, but I welcomed the innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The timer is easily accessible and allows you to <strong>switch<\/strong> <strong>from<\/strong> <strong>one<\/strong> <strong>task<\/strong> <strong>to<\/strong> <strong>another<\/strong>. Clicking on My Time within the timer takes you to your timesheet, which I found very convenient. The first 2 options are available in the Timesheet section. The timesheet is easy to pick up and includes viewing options, like daily, weekly, and calendar displays.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, I ran into some timekeeping headaches. I realized that <strong>you<\/strong> <strong>can\u2019t<\/strong> <strong>cancel<\/strong> <strong>the<\/strong> <strong>timer <\/strong>after clicking on it by accident. Manual logging was a bit frustrating because I <strong>couldn&#8217;t<\/strong> <strong>select<\/strong> <strong>a<\/strong> <strong>date for<\/strong> <strong>time<\/strong> <strong>entries<\/strong>. Using advanced filters, I was able to organize invoices to my liking. You have to categorize tracked time by service, which is tied to a preset budget \u2014 that\u2019s how the app tracks profitability. I also disliked not being able to link the same service to multiple tasks at once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The My Time tab conveniently offers 3 ways to add and view tracked time: Day, Timesheet, and Calendar. Tracking time was pretty intuitive, but I had <strong>trouble<\/strong> <strong>finding<\/strong> <strong>the<\/strong> <strong>task<\/strong> <strong>field<\/strong>. Though templates are a good starting point, I wasted lots of time tweaking them.
