Tasks provide an extra layer of hierarchy within a project, functioning like sub-projects. They\u2019re used to categorize time entries by type of activity, while the Description field is used for the specific work item. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Create a task<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
To create a task:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Go to the desired Project<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
Open the Tasks<\/strong> tab<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Type the task name and click Add<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
Add the task details:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
\n
Assignee – <\/strong>Select a user or group to indicate who works on the task<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Estimate – <\/strong>Set a time estimate (must be enabled in Project settings).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Rename – <\/strong>Click on the task name to edit it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
By default, owners and admins can create tasks, but you can modify this in Workspace settings.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assigning users to tasks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The task assignee determines who can track time against that task:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone –<\/strong> Everyone who has access to the project can track time on the task.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Specific User\/Group – <\/strong>Only the assigned person or group can track time on the task.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
For private projects<\/strong>, the user must be added to the project first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Add tasks in Time Tracker<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
1. Go to the Time Tracker<\/strong> page 2. Click on the Tasks\/Projects<\/strong> link next to the description field 3. Expand the project you\u2019re working on to see the tasks 4. Click the task you want to track 5. Add a description for your task (optional) 6. Click Start <\/strong>to start the timer<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add tasks in Timesheet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
1. Go to Timesheets <\/strong>2. Select the Project\/Task<\/strong> link to initiate a new entry line 3. Expand the relevant Project within the selection menu 4. Choose the specific Task associated with your work 5. Input the time duration into the appropriate day column<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add tasks in Calendar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
1. Go to the Calendar<\/strong> page 2. Select the desired time block on the calendar to open the entry form 3. Click the Project<\/strong> field to expand the selection menu 4. Expand the relevant project to display its associated tasks 5. Choose the specific task for this time entry 6. Enter a Description for the entry (optional) 7. Click Save<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark tasks as done<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
1. Go to the Projects<\/strong> page 2. Click on the project 3. Click the three-dot icon<\/strong> next to the task you want to mark as done 4. Select Mark as done<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When a task is finished, mark it as done to streamline your view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marking tasks as done is most useful if you organize projects as to-do lists. If you use tasks for fixed activity types, closing them may not be necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Delete tasks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n
Go to the Projects<\/strong> page<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Select the relevant project<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Click on the three-dot icon next to the task you want to delete<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Select Mark as done<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
Click on the three-dot icon again<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Select Delete<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
Type DELETE<\/strong> on the confirmation window<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Important note about deleting tasks:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only admins and project managers can delete tasks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
All time entries associated with the deleted task will become without a task but will still be linked to the project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
