They\u2019re used to categorize time entries by type of activity, while the Description field is used for the specific work item.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Create a task<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To create a task:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Go to the desired <strong>Project<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Open the <strong>Tasks<\/strong> tab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Type the task name and click <strong>Add<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add the task details:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Assignee &#8211; <\/strong>Select a user or group to indicate who works on the task<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Estimate &#8211; <\/strong>Set a time estimate (must be enabled in Project settings).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Rename &#8211; <\/strong>Click on the task name to edit it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">By default, owners and admins can create tasks, but you can modify this in <strong>Workspace settings.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Workspace setting<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Who can create tasks<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Admins<\/strong> (Default)<\/td><td>Admins<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Admins and project managers<\/strong><\/td><td>Admins and Project Managers<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Anyone<\/strong><\/td><td>Admins, Project Managers, Team Managers, and Regular Users<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assigning users to tasks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The task assignee determines who can track time against that task:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Anyone &#8211;<\/strong> Everyone who has access to the project can track time on the task.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Specific User\/Group &#8211; <\/strong>Only the assigned person or group can track time on the task.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"note translation-block\">For <strong>private projects<\/strong>, the user must be added to the project first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Add tasks in Time Tracker<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">1. Go to the <strong>Time Tracker<\/strong> page<br>2. Click on the<strong> Tasks\/Projects<\/strong> link next to the description field<br>3. Expand the project you\u2019re working on to see the tasks<br>4. Click the task you want to track<br>5. Add a description for your task (optional)<br>6. Go to <strong>Timesheets<br><\/strong>2. Select the <strong>Project\/Task<\/strong> link to initiate a new entry line<br>3. Expand the relevant Project within the selection menu<br>4. Choose the specific Task associated with your work<br>5. Input the time duration into the appropriate day column<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"732\" height=\"366\" src=\"https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Add-tasks-in-timesheet.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28251\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Add tasks in Calendar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">1. Go to the <strong>Calendar<\/strong> page<br>2. Select the desired time block on the calendar to open the entry form<br>3. Click the <strong>Project<\/strong> field to expand the selection menu<br>4. Expand the relevant project to display its associated tasks<br>5. Choose the specific task for this time entry<br>6. Enter a Description for the entry (optional)<br>7. Go to the <strong>Projects<\/strong> page<br>2. Click on the project<br>3. Click the <strong>three-dot icon<\/strong> next to the task you want to mark as done<br>4. Select <strong>Mark as done<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"732\" height=\"366\" src=\"https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Mark-task-as-done.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28253\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When a task is finished, mark it as done to streamline your view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table translation-block\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Task Status<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Behavior<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Done<\/strong><\/td><td>Hidden from the main project page and the time tracking picker (unless you select <strong>Show done<\/strong> or <strong>Show all<\/strong>).<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Tracking<\/strong><\/td><td>Time entries for done tasks will still appear in reports.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"tip\">Marking tasks as done is most useful if you organize projects as to-do lists.
