Learn how to create, manage, and organize projects and clients in Clockify<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create projects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Projects help categorize and track time entries for specific tasks. Each project is typically assigned to a client, though you can create clientless projects for internal use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steps to create a project:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

  1. Go to the Projects<\/strong> page<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Click Create new project<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Name the project<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Select an existing Client<\/strong> or create a new one by typing a name and clicking Create Client<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Choose a Project color<\/strong> and set the Visibility<\/strong> (Public or Private)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Click Create<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Once created, you can assign tasks and start tracking time for the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Quick create<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    When adding a time entry, click the +Project<\/strong> field, type the project name, and select Create new project<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Manage projects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Archive projects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Once a project is completed, you can archive<\/strong> it to keep it out of the way during time tracking. Archived projects remain in reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Steps to archive<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    1. Go to Projects<\/strong> and click the three dots<\/strong> next to the project<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Select Archive<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      To restore<\/strong> an archived project, click the three dots<\/strong> and select Restore<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Delete projects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Projects can only be deleted once archived. Be aware that deleting a project removes it from time entries but leaves the associated time data intact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Go to Projects<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Select Archived<\/strong> from the filter<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Click the three dots<\/strong> next to the project and select Delete<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Type DELETE<\/strong> in the text field<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5. Click Delete<\/strong> to confirm the action<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Set project billable rates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        You can set a billable rate<\/strong> for each project, which applies to all time entries associated with that project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Go to the Projects<\/strong> page<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Click on the project name<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Switch to the Project settings<\/strong> tab<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        4. Set the Billable rate<\/strong> for the project<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        5. Click Save<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Create clients<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          Clients are necessary to link to projects, though they can exist without a project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          1. Go to the Clients<\/strong> page<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          2. Enter the client\u2019s name and click Add<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            As a Manager<\/strong>, you can create clients when creating a project, but you won\u2019t have access to the Clients<\/strong> page unless you\u2019re an Admin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Assign tasks to projects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

            Tasks help you break down the work within a project. You can add new tasks, assign them to users, and set deadlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Steps to add a task:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

            1. Go to the Projects<\/strong> page and select the desired project<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            2. In the Tasks <\/strong>tab, enter the name of the task in the Add new task<\/strong> field <\/li>\n\n\n\n
            3. Click Add<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
            4. Set assignees, billability, rates and other details<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
