They help you analyze time spent on different tasks and set estimates.<\/td><td>A project can only belong to one client.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Clients<\/strong><\/td><td>The entities, individuals, or internal departments for whom you are doing work.<\/td><td>A client can have multiple projects linked to them.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Project visibility:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Public:<\/strong> Visible to everyone in the workspace<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Private:<\/strong> Visible only to selected users who are assigned to the project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Create a new project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">By default, only <strong>Admins<\/strong> can create projects. You can change this setting in <strong>Workspace settings<\/strong> to allow Project Managers or Anyone in the workspace to create projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To create a new project:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Go to the <strong>Projects<\/strong> page<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Click the <strong>Create new project<\/strong> button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Enter the <strong>Project name<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Select a client.<strong> <\/strong>If the client doesn&#8217;t exist, simply type the name and click <strong>Create client<\/strong> from the selection menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Choose a <strong>Project color<\/strong> for visual distinction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Set <strong>Visibility<\/strong> (Public or Private)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Click <strong>Create<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"736\" height=\"364\" src=\"https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Create-new-project-1.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29605\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also quickly create a new project directly from the Time Tracker page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">1. Click the <strong>+Project<\/strong> field while adding a time entry.<br>2. Start typing the project name<br>3. Expand the menu and click <strong>Create new project<\/strong> if it doesn\u2019t exist<br>4. Fill in the required details (client, visibility, color)<br>5. restore projects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To keep your workspace clean, you can archive completed projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To archive a project:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Go to the <strong>Projects<\/strong> page<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the three dots next to the project name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Select <strong>Archive<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Select or deselect <strong>Mark all tasks as done<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Click <strong>Archive<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"736\" height=\"364\" name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Select <strong>Restore<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Click <strong>Restore <\/strong>in the confirmation projects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"note translation-block\">Projects must be <strong>Archived<\/strong> before they can be deleted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To delete a project:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Go to the <strong>Projects<\/strong> page<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Set the filter to <strong>Archived<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Click <strong>Apply filter<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Click the <strong>three dots icon<\/strong> next to the archived project name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Select <strong>Delete<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Type <strong>DELETE<\/strong> and click <strong>Delete<\/strong> to confirm the action<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"736\" height=\"364\" time entries, but the historical time data remains intact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Merge&nbsp;projects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While you cannot directly merge two projects, you can reassign time entries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Navigate to the <strong>Reports<\/strong> page<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Select the <strong>Detailed<\/strong> report view<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Filter by the target <strong>Project <\/strong>and click <strong>Apply Filter<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check the top-most box to select all displayed time entries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Click <strong>Bulk Edit<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the new project for the merge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Click <strong>Save<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Archive<\/strong> and <strong>Delete<\/strong> the old project<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"736\" height=\"364\" management<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some advanced features for managing projects within the workspace, some of which are available with paid plans or specific user roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure edit tasks<\/strong><\/td><td>Admins and owners can add or edit tasks across multiple projects at once using the bulk edit screen. If the project is set to private, only users assigned to it can select it.<br><br><strong>How can I track time for a client?<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><br>To track time for a client, first create the client in the <strong>Clients<\/strong> page. Assign the client to a project. Make sure to select the project when tracking time to correctly attribute time entries to the client for reporting and invoicing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Can I set up a client rate?<\/strong><br><br>While you cannot set a rate directly on a client profile, you can establish client-specific pricing by setting a billable rate at the project level. You do this by assigning a project to a client and defining the desired rate within that project&#8217;s settings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Can I change which client a project is assigned to after it\u2019s been created?<\/strong><br><br>Yes, you can reassign a project by going to the <strong>Projects<\/strong> page, clicking on the specific project, and navigating to the <strong>Settings<\/strong> tab.
