This feature helps you generate accurate timesheets based on the time you spent on different tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Download and installation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Auto tracker is available for these platforms:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><a href=\"https:\/\/clockify.me\/windows-time-tracking\">Download Windows app<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/clockify.me\/linux-time-tracking\">Download Linux app<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/clockify.me\/mac-time-tracking\">Download Mac app<br><br><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"note\">For macOS users: Make sure you installed the Mac app from the Clockify website. The version downloaded from the Mac App Store doesn\u2019t include the Auto tracker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading note\">Enable auto tracker<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After the desktop app is installed and you are logged in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">1. Click the <strong>A icon<\/strong> located at the top of the application window<br>2. Click the <strong>Start Recording<\/strong> button on the pop-up window<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The auto tracker is now active and will begin monitoring your computer activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"292\" src=\"https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Enable-auto-tracker.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27749\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"note\">By default, the auto tracker only records activities (programs or websites) you view for more than 10 seconds. Any activity shorter than this threshold will not be recorded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This rule is to prevent clutter from quick window switches. You can adjust or override this time limit within the auto tracker&#8217;s settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, open the Clockify desktop app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">1. Click on the three-dot icon<br>2. Select <strong>Preferences<\/strong><br>3. Go to <strong>Auto tracker<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong>4. Set your preferred duration (in seconds) next to the option <strong>Track only apps that are active for longer than<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1016\" height=\"666\" src=\"https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27750\" style=\"width:540px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image.png 1016w, https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-300x197.png 300w, https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-768x503.png 768w, https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-18x12.png 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1016px) 100vw, 1016px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The default duration upon installation are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Windows &#8211; 15 seconds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MacOS &#8211; 60 seconds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Linux  &#8211; 15 seconds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Data and privacy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s important to understand how this feature tracks your data. Here\u2019s how auto tracking works:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Feature<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Details<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Storage location<\/td><td>All recorded data is stored locally on your computer.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Privacy<\/td><td>Only the person using the app can see recorded activities and add them as time entries<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Automatic deletion<\/td><td>Data older than 45 days is automatically and permanently deleted from your local storage<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"note\">If a regular user didn&#8217;t add activities as time entries, admins won&#8217;t be able to see them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is tracked<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Auto tracker creates a new record every time you switch to a different application, browser tab, or document. Here is the data it captures:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Programs and window titles:<\/strong> The names of the applications and documents you are using.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Website URLs:<\/strong> Visited website URLs are tracked by default. (This feature can be disabled in the auto tracker settings if you prefer more privacy).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Idle time:<\/strong> The <strong>Idle<\/strong> column shows the percentage of time you were inactive (no mouse or keyboard movement) within that recorded activity block.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"423\" src=\"https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-1-1024x423.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27751\" srcset=\"https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-1-1024x423.png 1024w, https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-1-300x124.png 300w, https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-1-768x317.png 768w, https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-1-1536x635.png 1536w, https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-1-18x7.png 18w, https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-1.png 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Create time entries from activities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Recorded activities only appear in the auto tracker window and aren\u2019t automatically added to your timesheet. You must manually convert them into time entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">1. Click the <strong>A<\/strong> icon<br>2. Click the plus (<strong>+<\/strong>) sign next to the activity<br>3. Add a project and a description for the task<br>4. Click <strong>Save<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong>5. Close the auto tracker window<br><br>You should now see the added time entry on the main page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"284\" src=\"https:\/\/clockify.me\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Create-time-entries-from-activities.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27752\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">You can select multiple items by clicking on one item, then holding down the <strong>Shift <\/strong>key and selecting more items. Click on the three-dot icon on your Clockify desktop app<br>2. Select <strong>Preferences<\/strong><br>3. Go to <strong>Auto Tracker<\/strong><br>4.
