Webhook and API limitations

2 min de lecture

Clockify has certain limitations based on the plan you use. Below is a detailed breakdown of how these limits apply to your workspace.

API limits #

  • Newly created workspaces on the Free plan are restricted to 30 API requests per hour for the entire workspace.
  • Workspaces on any paid plan maintain the standard limit of 50 requests per second.

Webhook limits #

  • Workspaces on the Free plan are limited to a maximum of 3 defined webhooks for the whole workspace.
  • Paid workspaces have higher allowance, offering 10 webhooks per user, up to a total of 100 webhooks per paid workspace.

If your workspace subscription changes (downgrade from paid to free plan), Clockify automatically manages your webhooks to ensure compliance with the limits:

  • Downgrading to Free: The system will first disable any webhooks tied to paid features. If you still have more than 3 active webhooks remaining, the system will disable the excess until only your 3 oldest webhooks remain active.
  • Upgrading to Paid: When a workspace upgrades to a paid plan, the system automatically checks for disabled webhooks and reactivates any that are eligible.

What you can do #

  • Review API usage: If your workflow depends on higher request volume, a paid plan is required for the standard 50 requests per second limit.
  • Check webhook requirements: If you are downgrading, be aware that the system will automatically disable excess webhooks, prioritizing webhooks tied to paid features, and retaining only your 3 oldest webhooks.
  • Consider upgrading: If you require higher limits (e.g., more than 3 webhooks or higher API volume), upgrading to a paid plan will provide greater allowance and automatically reactivate any eligible webhooks that were previously disabled.
