How to track time in VS Code

Step 1

Create Clockify account

Sign up here for free

Step 2

Install extension

Get time tracking extension for VS Code here

Note: Clockify extension for VSCode isn't officially developed by Clockify. Use at your own discretion.

Step 3

Enter your API key

Generate API key for free in Clockify's Profile settings.

Step 4

Project info

In the sidebar, you'll see the Clockify icon. There, you can see all your clients, projects, tasks, hourly rates, and other info. You can also create clients and projects.

Track time

Press Ctrl+Shift+P to bring up the command palette. Type "clockify" to list and run actions (create project, start timer, stop timer, etc.).

Run reports

Open Clockify in a web browser to see your tracked billable and nonbillable hours, manage projects, run reports, share them with clients, and export the data.
